The hike will commence by climbing Kings Gully. We will visit the "Nobel Six" memorial cross on route and learn something of the history of the tragic events that occurred during the civil war. in 1922.
After a short detour off the trail we will explore Annach Re Mhor, a massive cave-like canyon fissure that splits through Kings Mountain. You will have opportunity to descend into the canyon. Please note we will not be abseiling or using ropes.
After this we reach the plateau of Kings mountain with stunning views of Glencar Lake in the distance.
Our hike will cross over the some boggy terrain to climb up to Slievemore with its "Millennium Cross" erected by the local Mountaineering Club.
The last part of our journey climbs us up to Kings Table, the highest point on Kings mountain
NB Meet at Rathcormack Church Car park at 9:30am.
Our hike will start at Toms Cottage where limited parking is available.

Equipment required:

Good waterproof boots and waterproof clothing are essential; hiking trousers are advised, (no jeans please); spare warm layer; hat and gloves; lunch and/or snacks; water or juice drink, (1.5 litres); small rucksack to carry it all in. Walking poles are recommended.
**NB** It is advisable to wear boots with good ankle support due to the nature of the terrain. These will assist in protecting you from injury.
