Mweelrea Horseshoe - Guided hike

Mweelrea is the highest mountain in Connacht at 814m.
It overlooks the Atlantic Ocean to the West and Killary Fjord to the south. To the east is the beautiful Delphi Valley with its three lakes. Fin Lough, Doolough and Glencullin Lough. Across the valley we see the Sheefry Hills and Ben Creggan and Ben Gorm. To the south east are the 12 Bens and Maumturks offering amazing opportunities for hiking and to the north Croaghpatrick.

Our Route.
We will climb Mweelrea from the Delphi Valley starting at Doolough. Our ascent will be via the Ben Lugamore ridge. While the ridge is very exposed our route will be protected. Upon reaching the saddle at Ben Bury we make our way to the summit on good terrain. Our descent route will follow down a natural forming ramp to the valley floor exiting on to the Dolough valley.
