Croaghpatrick Traverse

Croaghpatrick is the third highest mountain in Connaught. It is 764m high and nicknamed "The Reek"
According to Christian tradition, St. Patrick went up the sacred mountain at festival time in 441 AD. After fasting at the summit for 40 days, he banished all the snakes and demons from Ireland.
The normal route is from Murrisk and is climbed by countless thousands of pilgrims and tourists per year.

We plan to climb Croaghpatrick via Ben Goram which is a westerly spur and provides a nice quiet alternative route. The descent will be via the pilgrim track.
